05/10/06 This page will close as the puppies are all in their new homes!
04/12/06 Another puppy, Bam Bam, left for Illinoise. Bam is one of the Black boys who was always busy. He now resides with Carol and Larry where he is apparently quite the entertainment! We also received a two page letter from "Anna Belle" in Asheville, NC. Her folks are really happy with her, and she feels they have the ability to be trained. Here at home we still have three brown girls, Hooligan, Carol and Trucee, and one black boy, Ruffian. We still can't decide who is staying with us permanently other then Ruff.
The four pups had ducks this past weekend and thought that was a ball. They carried a dead one around like it was a trophy. They are also swimming a little in the lake. It helps that their mother is leading the way.
Dana is recovering and back to helping with the crew. They did manage to steal his cane a few times -- which was REALLY funny to watch -- but a little annoying when he was trying to walk!
03/17/06 Dana had knee surgery in Philadelphia so we have been gone. Thanks to our wonderful friend "Jenna" for taking care of the crew while we were gone. We continue to hear wonderful things about the puppies who have gone to their new homes.
Anna Belle (MN) and Pilot (CA) were the last two to go home. Pilot is named after George Washingtons hunting dog -- according to the Poodle History Project -- a poodle like retriever. Anna Belle is a southern belle! Both owners report to having a great time -- with active dogs that enjoy the outdoors.
Seven puppies are in their new homes. There are three puppies remaining for placement. Two brown girls (we call them 'Truce and Carol) and a black boy (Bam Bam). Now that we are back we will follow up on some calls. The pups are 13 weeks old and growing fast. With the weather warming they are investigating the lake and enjoying digging up fresh water clams.
02/24/06 I am woefully slow at getting our new photos up! Thus far we have had 5 of our "Magnificent 12" got to their new homes all over the country.
We have puppies in Modesto, CA (Cosette) ; MA (Sky); New Orleans, LA (Uptown); Asheville, NC (Duchess); Detroit, MI(Jimmy); LA, CA (Pilot); and Deluth (Anna Belle)! I will keep five here at home until I decide who will be my show and performance puppies. We are thrilled with our new owners and with the activities our dogs will pursue. Three have gone to hunting homes. 4 to great families who have wonderful intentions to travel with, train and play with their new family members. Reports thus far are that the pups are VERY well socialized and fitting in great with their new families.
02/12/06 Yesterday, our first Pup left. She is now officially "Poo'Pla's Speyburn Cosette" call name "Cosette."
She has gone to live with a wonderful family in California. With hope she will become part of the hunting sport enjoyed by her new Dad, Fred. But we KNOW she will work herself into the hearts of the whole family.
The puppies have come such a long way. They are healthy and happy and full of life. Even with additional fencing put up, they are getting over the fencing and to our neighbors beach area. Rounding them up is a bit like herding cats. We know however that we don't have much longer to spend with them so every moment is precious.
The next two weeks will be busy as we prepare puppies for going to their new homes.
01/20/06 The Pups are all over 5.5 pounds, some are over 7! They are healthy and active. This week they had their first live Quail Experience and they thought it was neat. Each is developing their independence and unique personality. We have started to break them into twos on their daily outings so that we can get to know each better. They are trained very well to do their business outside, which with 12 pups comes in handy. Though they still can't make it overnight, the cleanup is a lot easier during the day. They are eating more and more -- have been dewormed for the second time and are clear. First shots will be given in week 9 and the pups will be ready in week 10 for their new homes. This is the beginning of week 6. We can't believe time is going so fast.
01/06/06 The Pups continue to become more active and are trying out their little voices! There is lots of play and pushing going on in the pen. The have moved from the Whelping Box in the downstairs to a large pen. They eat real food, are supplemented and are weaning off of Mulligan. Meanwhile, Mulligan is back in the field and running one series a day. All are healthy, happy and growing.
01/01/06 All 12 Pups, plus our four Standard Poodles took a 16 hour roundtrip to PA for the holidays. Mulligan did a great job taking care of them! We think this counts as socialization to cars? Most puppies are now over 3 pounds. They get bigger and bigger every day. They all started experimenting with "real" food last week. Thus the photos above. Each puppy is developing its own personality. Today we found six of them outside of the whelping box whic his good for the puppy development but bad for the puppy owners! The more mobile they get the harder they are to keep track of! We are having a great time and are looking forward to meeting many of you who will be picking your puppies up!

12/21/05 All the pups weigh over 1 pound with the exception of one which is at 15 1/2 oz! They are eating well and have had to have their nails clipped already! Eyes are just starting to open. Mulligan continues to do well. Dana could use a week of vacation but continues to be the main feeder round the clock.
12/17 The puppies continue to grow. Mulligan is producing lots of milk and is a very dedicated Mom. Of course there are the twelve puppies AND her stuffed Tiger to care for. That poor Tiger has been around for three years, having been a gift from Grammy Glenna, our breeder and friend. Several of the pups are not over 1 pound and they are not even one week old yet!
12/14 Puppies are thriving and doing well. Dana is dedicated to the supplemental feeding and has been focused on getting those pups to gain weight! Dew Claws were removed, and tails were docked on Monday.
